- Have you ever thought that sexual behaviors, thinking, compulsions or other undesirable activity were controlling you?
- Have you ever tried to stop or limit your compulsive sexual behavior?
- Do you ever resort to compulsive sexual behaviors to escape your problems, relieve stress and anxiety, or ‘numb out’?
- Do you feel crushed by guilt and depression after compulsive behavior?
- Has your pursuit of sexual behavior become more and more compulsive?
- Does your preoccupation with sex and compulsive behaviors interfere with your relationship with your spouse?
- Do you need to rely on images or memories during sexual activity?
- Do you get an irresistible impulse to act out when someone else makes the overtures or sex is offered?
- Do you bounce around, moving from one “relationship” or lover to another?
- Do you have a destructive and desperate sexual need for someone?
- Does your pursuit of sex put yourself, your family, or others in danger?
- Does the pursuit of sex cause you to be careless?
- Has your effectiveness or ability to concentrate gotten worse as sex has become more compulsive for you?
- Do you take time from or miss work in your pursuit of sex?
- Do you turn to a less-than-reputable environment or group of people when looking to fulfill your sexual desires?
- Do you have the urge to get away from your sexual partner ASAP after the act?
- Do you masturbate or pursue sexual relations with others even though you’re married?
- Have you ever been in trouble with the law as a result of your sexual actions?
If you answered ‘yes’ to one or more of these questions, you may be an addict and need to consult a professional and attend a 12 Step meeting.
